Background and motivation

Over the past five years, we’ve witnessed exponential growth in the number of token holders across various blockchain networks worldwide. According to Demandsage, by 2024, the number of active blockchain platform users reached 617 million — about 7.5% of the global population — compared to just 139 million in 2019.

The rise of memecoins. One of the most striking trends in recent years has been the explosion of “meme coins,” largely driven by the emergence of specialized platforms (mempads) that simplify the launch and promotion of custom tokens. According to Dune, more than 5 million new tokens have been launched on the Pump.fun platform alone in a short period. However, approximately 97% of meme coins rapidly lose their value and essentially “die” shortly after launch, while the most successful projects survive for only about a year (Chainplay).

The value problem. The main reason for this high “mortality rate” is the lack of long-term value. Tokens are still primarily perceived as tools for quick profit, leading to sharp price fluctuations driven by investor fear and greed. However, if a project has a strong and engaged community that values the token for more than speculative purposes, volatility decreases, and the project’s lifecycle extends.

Why Magic Pot is needed

Magic Pot aims to address one of the key issues facing meme coins and most community tokens — the lack of real use cases that regularly engage community members. We create tools and gamification mechanics that give token holders reasons to use their tokens daily.

With our MVP, we’ve already seen that users are willing to risk their tokens for potential rewards. The very nature of risk and the discussions around game outcomes make the process exciting, sustaining ongoing interest in the project.
